What clients ask before hiring.
- No. Anyone can view any LanceRank profile by visiting lancerank.com/their-username. You see the verified score, full platform history, client reviews, and project portfolio without signing up. We built it this way because clients evaluating a freelancer should not have to register on yet another platform just to read public reputation data.
- The score is computed live from verified sources: platform sync (Upwork, Fiverr, Toptal, Freelancer.com, and 4 more), direct client reviews collected by email-verification handshake, and offline projects vouched for by the named client. Every input is timestamped and traceable. We publish the full algorithm — 6 weighted factors, recency decay, anti-fraud safeguards — at lancerank.com/how-scoring-works.
- Platform stats are scraped directly from Upwork/Fiverr/etc. — the freelancer cannot edit those numbers. Direct LanceRank reviews require the reviewer to verify their email before the review counts. Offline project vouches require the named client to confirm via email. There is no anonymous "leave a review" button, so review-bombing and fake-positive flooding are both prevented at the architecture level.
- Report it at lancerank.com/report. Every report is reviewed within 48 hours and impersonation reports within 24 hours per our DSA compliance commitment. If we confirm fraud, the profile is taken down, the username goes into a 90-day cooldown, and we issue a Statement of Reasons to the reviewer/reporter as required by EU regulation.
- Verified Pro indicates the freelancer has claimed their profile AND completed identity verification (one of: Stripe Identity check, LinkedIn-matched signup, extension-confirmed platform ownership) AND has at least one connected platform with verifiable work history. It is the strongest combined trust signal we offer — meaningfully stronger than a basic claimed profile.
- Yes — by the named client. When a freelancer adds an offline project, we email the listed client a single-use confirmation link. The client clicks it, confirms the project happened (with optional star rating), and the project then shows as "Client-confirmed" on the profile. Unconfirmed projects show as "Pending" and do NOT contribute to the score. You can see confirmation status on every profile.
- No. Viewing profiles, comparing freelancers, contacting them, and leaving reviews after a project are all free for clients. We make money exclusively from freelancer Pro subscriptions and featured placement auctions. The client-side experience has no paywalls, no signup walls, and no upsells.
