I developed iOS versions of five successful Windows apps for individuals preparing to take the South African pilot license exams. Each app is specifically designed for a different type of pilot license, such as Private, Commercial, Night Flying, etc. Working in collaboration with a designer, we crafted a brand-new UI\u002FUX for the iOS apps, ensuring an enhanced user experience. Since the existing data for the Windows apps was stored in a proprietary database format, I created an OSX app to parse and transform that data into a Core Data model, which was then utilized in the iOS apps. To maintain a shared code base across the five apps, I used a single Xcode project with multiple targets and some internal configuration to select the default theme and database. This approach streamlined development and ensured consistency across the apps. Each app was customized with a unique color scheme to provide visual distinction between them, while the core functionality remained the same. By employing these strategies, we successfully brought the established Windows apps to iOS, offering a tailored and visually appealing experience for users preparing for pilot license exams in South Africa.
