I was hired to architect and design a robust system to perform over the air system updates, package installs, and device provisioning including enterprise wifi configurations. The system would run on a dedicated AOSP-based Android TV box. I was also hired to write code to test and validate proof of concept on the following AOSP configurations: Android 5 without root Android 10 with root Android 12 with and without root I wrote the system architecture document whose table of contents is shown in the attached graphic file. I designed a series of component drawings, flow diagrams, tiered\u002Flayered diagrams, and system interface\u002Fcommunication diagrams. One of the component drawings is shown in the attached graphic file. The goal was to have a well-documented design that any level of management or engineer could quickly grasp the concept and follow the flow. I wrote a series of app modules and libraries at the system, privileged, and user levels. Where the Android manifest permissions were not sufficient, I modified the system permissions xml file to specify system level permissions for the apps. I was encouraged to research, explore, and test as many approaches as possible for viable and best solutions across the different run-time environments. The goal was to achieve the optimal architecture for silent installs and updates that would not require user intervention. Robustness, recovery, and error handling was an important secondary goal. The project consisted of the following skills, tasks, and components: Package Manager\u002F Package Installer API System updates via A\u002FB Partition, Recovery System Cache, RecoverySystem API DownloadManager API Shell commands: pm install, delete, reboot, screencap System, privileged, and user apps with appropriate permissions Silent downloads and updates of package files Silent over the air install of system with reboot Rooted and non-rooted AOSP Libraries Broadcasts and broadcast receivers Permission Handling Token download, storage, encryption, sharing, exchange Proof of concept, edge test cases Android TV box running AOSP System architecture and design with drawings WorkManager API with scheduled tasks Wifi: enterprise wifi, add network, change network configuration, static IP, DNS, change connection, permissions, reflection Startup Provider Configuration Provider Registering\u002FProvisioning Android TV box with the server on first boot.
