The challenge in developing a smart lock for these sites was not just improving physical security. It was also about creating a solution that prevents the lock from being secured onto itself without actually closing the gate. This ensures the lock's status accurately reflects whether the gate is closed. Moreover, the solution had to tackle key misuse by enabling secure, traceable transfers of access rights.
